Motorola’s Moto G series has long been known for offering reliable, basic smartphones at affordable prices. The new 2023 model provides some notable upgrades like 5G connectivity without busting the budget. Here are my thoughts after using it.

Design and Display

Made of plastic and glass, the Motorola Moto G (2023) feels well-built for its price. I like the compact size and comfortable in-hand grip. The 6.5-inch LCD has a resolution of 720p which is decent for the cost. Viewing angles are acceptable.

Performance and Specs

Powering the Motorola Moto G (2023) is the Snapdragon 480+ 5G chipset paired with 4GB RAM. This provides adequate performance for essential tasks like messaging, social media, and streaming. The 5000mAh battery easily lasts over a day of casual use.

There’s 64GB or 128GB of storage and a microSD slot for expansion. You also get dual rear cameras, USB-C charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

5G Connectivity

As the name implies, the big upgrade here is 5G network support. This helps future-proof the device and allows accessing faster next-gen cellular speeds where available. In testing, I was able to easily latch onto 5G connectivity.

For under $150, the Moto G delivers good value with its dependable performance and the added benefit of 5G access. While not for power users, it fulfills basic smartphone needs at an affordable cost.
