Motorola is back with its latest clamshell foldable, the Razr 40. As the more affordable sibling to the Razr 40 Ultra, is this the Razr that can go mainstream? Here’s my full review after spending time with the Motorola Razr 40.

Design and Display

The Razr 40 retains the iconic flip phone design, now with a flexible 6.9-inch OLED. It folds up neatly like the old Razrs. Build quality feels solid though it uses plastic rather than glass. The small external screen is handy for quick alerts.

Performance and Specs

Power comes from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip which handles all tasks smoothly. Memory options include 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Storage is 128GB or 256GB without expansion. Gaming and general use performed well.

Camera Quality

The primary shooter is a 64MP sensor producing sharp images. The 13MP ultrawide adds versatility. Selfies were detailed from the 32MP front camera. Video maxes at 4K30 but quality is good.

Software and Battery Life

Motorola’s near-stock Android 13 software provided a clean experience. The 4200mAh battery easily lasted over a full day of moderate use. 30W charging topped up the Razr 40 quickly.

Value and Conclusion

At $825, it’s quite affordable for a flagship foldable. The Motorola Razr 40 delivers a premium yet familiar clamshell form factor combined with good specs and user experience. It’s a capable foldable that could help push the Razr into the mainstream.
